Equilibrium is an attempt to reveal a new aspect of the ARAKAWA GRIP. The idea was a shift from passive use, where pressure is applied to the grip, to active use, where the grip applies pressure. The wire is threaded through extended hollow cylinder units and tightened at both ends by the grips, creating a single long linear object. The tensile stress of the wire and the compressive pressure of the unit exist simultaneously in equilibrium through the grips. One of the characteristics of this work is that it has created different expressions during the Experimental Creations, Salone del Mobile in Milan, Almach Art Gallery, and TIERS GALLERY.
