The timing of this work was precisely when ARAKAWA GRIP released a new product called BU70. This new product can be embedded in shelves, allowing vertical lifting and lowering. And we were asked to design an exhibit that would effectively showcase this mechanism. Although its ability to be embedded in shelves was the highlight, Hashimoto thought that simply exhibiting that feature would not convey the quality of the product.
Thus, the main concept became to show the suspension system by concealing it in the resin. We first applied a preserving treatment to branches we picked up in shima as a natural material and sealed them in resin. Various types of hardware hooks were used for the wire work on the branches. The space was formed by attaching two pieces of heaton hardware per branch and hooking them at any desired point on the wire stretched horizontally to create an effect similar to the Ikebana flower arrangement. Coupled with creative lighting, a visionary "floating forest" was created. text by Masaaki Takahashi
