When I worked with Masamichi Katayama on the interior of the PASS THE BATON store, I identified with his attention to materials and furnishings. Soup Stock Tokyo and PAVILION also utilize ARAKAWA GRIP to display plants and other items in their spaces. For the Soup Stock Tokyo store, I selected simple and utilitarian hardware for door knobs and fittings based on the principle that functionality is appreciated over ornamentation. In galleries exhibiting high-end art pieces, picture rails evoke a sense of domesticity. And it's unfortunate to see excess elements exposed at the bottom of exhibits. I hire professional contractors to install my artwork and carefully monitor every detail, including lighting.
I own a company called KADOWSAN, dedicated to leasing artworks and other interior-related items such as plants and furniture. At times, my clients in the corporate setting do not have the facilities to install art, and I wish to suggest a wire installation that would allow them to place artwork that utilizes high ceilings. If such changes can be implemented today when creative works are more widely appreciated, it would facilitate the spread of art. There are endless possibilities for wire in the future. For example, imagine an interior design with all the furniture hanging from the ceiling. text by Masaaki Takahashi
